Plant Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Lead all manufacturing staff and operations to ensure production meets the required deadlines, quality standards, financial budgets, and strategic advancements. Responsibilities include staffing, administration, production, quality, equipment, safety, and financial performance.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Increase efficiency and profitability by creating and implementing an annual manufacturing strategic plan that aligns with the high-level goals set by RBS owners and executive staff.
  • Perform daily data analysis to understand actions needed to achieve day-to-day performance, communicate overall performance of manufacturing to cross functional team and maintain manufacturing's metrics.
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of the master plan/schedule and overall production responsibilities by assuring proper product flow, correct facilities, and proper operator assignments.
  • Maintain all quality standards and procedures, work closely with the quality team to reduce defective product, preserve customer relationship, and drive improvements throughout the manufacturing facility and employees.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor, leads, and set up technicians to communicate key performance indicators and create action plan to maintain/improve overall performance.
  • Oversees equipment layout, purchases, installations, and maintenance, maintain daily/annual preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment down time.
  • Manages the hiring and training of new manufacturing staff, works closely with human resources to request, approve, and plan for successful onboarding.
  • Serves as a coach/mentor to manufacturing employees, assesses skill levels to identify gaps and provides training to advance employees and RBS's overall talent pool.
  • Oversees the on-time completion of manufacturing employee's performance evaluations.
  • Manages and motivates machine shop employees to adhere to all RBS policies and procedures, and when necessary, consistently, and fairly administer disciplinary actions.
  • Assure manufacturing's compliance to RBS's existing systems, policies, and processes.
  • Guarantee conformance to ISO policies and procedures, partner with Quality to maintain and improve ISO policies and conduct third party audits annually.
  • In charge of creating and/or refining systems/processes to minimize error and bolster productivity. Implement methods for improvement and adopt approaches such as LEAN, 6 Sigma (DFSS & DMAIC), and JIT (just-in-time).
  • Collaborate closely with engineering to assist in creating prototypes, evaluating manufacturing feasibility (DFMA), suggesting new manufacturing technology, establishing process flow, and quality procedures.
  • Lead efficiency and optimization efforts via Kaizens of the manufacturing operations.
  • Implements and maintains 5S to ensure a safe, clean, and productive work area.
  • Assures compliance with all safety rules and regulations both internal (RBS) and external (OSHA).
  • Performs other related duties as required and/or assigned.

SUPERVISION:

  • Direct Reports - Production Supervisor & Maintenance Technician(s)
  • Indirect Reports- Machine Operators, Set-up Technicians, Shipping and Receiving Operators, Assemblers, & Packaging

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education:

  • 4-Year College Degree in Manufacturing or another related field
  • 8-Years of manufacturing related experience in various management roles.

Experience:

  • 10-Years or more of experience required in various management & non-management roles, preferably in a metal removing/CNC manufacturing environment.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong supervisory skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong metrology skills
  • Solid machine operation knowledge
  • Excellent math skills especially in statistical process controls
  • Working knowledge of preparing documentation for ISO 9001, PPAP, FMEA, APQP, SPC and other related activities.
