Procurement and Inventory Control Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Supply Chain & Materials Manager's responsibility is to manage the activities of the purchasing, materials (inventory) and production scheduling departments. Examples of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the procure of supplies, materials and services at optimal price and delivery cycles while maintain the lowest possible inventory levels. Scheduling production to optimize throughput and guaranteeing supplier on time deliver.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manage, lead, plan and monitor all activities within the Procurement, P.&I.C and Scheduling departments
• Propagate Inventory forecasts as possible commodity items
• Determine and set safety stock, reorder points, and E.O.Q as prudent to keep inventory targets balanced
• Evaluate and determine best Item Type Coding to allow effective and efficient procurement of goods and services
• Identify and prioritize items and/or classifications for purchase price optimization and develop a strategy for implementation (V.M.I, contracts, competitive bidding, negotiations, etc.
• Analyze and evaluate suppliers for their performance relative to quality or product/service, on-time delivery, pricing, and risk factors
• Develop additional vendors/suppliers as necessary to meet the overall corporate objectives
• Oversee the scheduling of components and raw materials form outside suppliers in order to insure that customer schedules are met, production is not interrupted due to raw/component stock-outs, inventory is kept at strategic levels, and pricing is optimal
• Manage development of the Master Production Schedule and all aspects of the Production Control position

  • MRP
  • WIP tracking
  • Material and labor variance controls - labor usage and PPV
  • Manufacturing KPI's
  • Regular reporting of lead times, on-time delivery to customer, inventory targets, costs and expenses
• Increase the productive capacity of the PIC department through the initiation and implementation of strategies, ideas, processes and systems
• Set forth a departmental structure and staffing plans to ensure business obligations and objectives are efficiently and effectively accomplished
• Provide coaching, mentoring and employee development for effective implementation of best-practice processes
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRERMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Business or technical degree in a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) year in a manufacturing environment working with materials and purchasing responsibilities
• CPIM/CPSM/CSCP and/or Karrass Negotiation Certification or equivalent relevant training and/or experience in the supply chain management and negotiations
• Proven experience managing projects from concept to production
• Proven experience in price and contract negotiations and the ability to drive change
• Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
